In an effort to battle prejudice, a library in Sweden has begun allowing patrons to 'borrow a person'. According to
this article, a homosexual, an imam, a journalist, a Muslim woman and a gypsy will be available for 45 minute check outs. Interesting concept; I commend these people for their willingness to open themselves to all sorts of questions and opinions.
As I read the article, it occurred to me; who would speak for an entire culture, race or profession? It is a bold thing to declare yourself a spokesperson for thousands of people.
If people are so ignorant as to be prejudice in the first place, would this make a dent in their myopic opinions?
If some one had a prejudice against chubby women who dye their hair, I would be a great representative. I meet the requirements, but I only represent myself. I'm afraid I wouldn't do much to shake the stereotype. I'm funny, smart and sometimes I try too hard. If that's your opinion of chubby girls who dye their hair various shades of red and blonde...you're actually dead on.
