I found
this while prowling through blogs. The question under the title:
What would the child I once was think of the adult I have become?
That has some wheels turning, let me tell you. It makes me think of the Bruce Willis move THE KID. Remember how disappointed the kid was to learn that his older self (Willis) was unmarried and living alone? "Not even a dog?!?!"
The younger me (under 12) would be pretty happy with how things turned out. Nice home. Good job. Wonderful husband. Bliss. Secure bliss.
The teenage me, however, would be thuroughly disgusted. (Not with my choice of a husband, mind you. Jason was one of my best friends in high school, long before we dated.) She would scream, "You work WHRE? Doing WHAT? You're BORING!" She would rage against the comfort and contentment my life gives. She would pontificate on my lack of experience in the global scheme of things. She would be mortified to learn I still live in my hometown.
She wouldn't rant for long, though. Just after the "What do you mean you don't have a college degree?" speech, and just before the "You still haven't been to Austraila, Africa or India?" montage, something colorful would distract her.
"I love your hair!!" She would gush. " Did you have it dyed or is that rasberry punch Kool-aid!?"
