We've all played this scenario in our heads, haven't we?

"If I ever get to meet (insert name of idol here) I know exactly what I'll say. 'Your (music, writing, work) has changed my life. I'm a better person because of your influence.' That's what I'll say and he/she will be blown away by my sincerity and heartfelt affection." Yeah...right.

During intermission at the GMAs, we made our way to the section seating our favorite band, Third Day. More specifically to Mark Lee, guitarist of said favorite band. We greet Mark, introduce ourselves, and pose for a pic. (Taken by Randy Elrod, another artist I admire :D)

Mark then shows us his Tshirt, an abstract bird image displayed across the front. He explains he wore it in honor of the Dove awards.

And here it is, the moment I had rehearsed in my head all night.

But my hubby, being not swayed by fame nor talent, his wit and brutal honesty being no respecter of persons proclaims, "Dude, thats a pigeon".

I suppose that was as right a thing to say as any other. Why? Because that's what he was thinking. Maybe all those other thanks-for-all-your-work-has-meant-to-me thoughts were rattling around too, but he seized the moment to just be himself. And that's what I love about him.

Far from ruined, the moment I met one of my idols will forever stand out in my mind as a time when once again my hubby took an anxiety-ridden situation and made me laugh out loud.
