Years ago (eons, really) I worked in a factory on the production floor. The 'higher-ups' would come down from Canada and inspect our production procedures. It's unnerving to be watched like that. Evaluated. We made jokes that this must be how zoo animals feel. Some of us made signs for our stations that read, "Please Do NOT feed the factory workers". (I got written up for insubordination for that one.)

A few weeks ago I started a diet. And here they come out of the woodwork. I've been invited to several dinner parties/social events in the last month. People are coming by the office with chocolate goodies in hand, "We appreciate you." Can't you appreciate me with a flower or a celery stick?!?

Today I'm considering making a sign for my office door. "Please Do NOT feed the chubby secretary."
