I've been accused of it more than once. I've been guilty of it more than twice. What exactly are we searching for? Its not the fame. I could sit across a dinner table from Ben Afleck and never bat an eye. He just doesn't hold my attention. (Nothing against Mr. Afleck.) Why do we choose the idols we choose? Feel more comfortable calling them role models? Okay, fine by me. I think we're looking for something we feel is missing in ourselves. We have a need to feel close to that trait, to somehow be associated with it. Is it talent? Beauty? Intelligence? Confidence? Take a good look at your role models and ask yourself, "What is it about this guy?" Take a good look at yourself. Dig deep. Maybe you'll find it. Don't get me wrong, I'm not looking to shake any pedestals. But recently one of my idols challenged me to be creative, thus this blog was born. I'm digging deep for that creative spark I so admire in others.
