You've had those, right? You talk on the phone all night or you sit up on the couch talking about life, the universe and everything. Last night a friend and I had one of those conversations. What was the main topic? 3 a.m. conversations! It begins with, "OMG! Do you remember when..." and ends somewhere around, "I still can't believe they did that!".
My friend decided that she doesn't particularly want to be the topic of anyone else's 3 a.m. conversation. She vowed not to do or say anything so monumentally stupid that it would stand out to others' minds at 3 o'clock in the morning.
Which naturally led to this question: What do we care what others think about us?
My friend is very conscience of others' opinions and struggles with her self-esteem. I, however, was blessed with a bad attitude on this subject. I don't really care what others think. Granted, there are a select few who could speak a harsh word and reduce me to a puddle. The key is to have a select few. Choose wisely those whom you allow to estimate your worth. Then, when you find that you have been the topic of a 3 a.m. conversation, you can just smile and say, "Oh, that's nothing! Do you remember when...."
